Animal intelligence and the hygiene hypothesis: this week’s top search terms

"Animal intelligence" continues to lead the pack of search terms bringing people to my main site, and you could lump that together with "animal emotions" for a truly commanding lead. Making a first appearance is a seasonal favorite, "flying reindeer." Good old "spider goat" is still on the list, and other old favorites. Here are the top 15, out of the last 4,000 visits to the site: 40 animal intelligence 1.0% 30 hygiene hypothesis 0.8% 25 physics of football 0.6% 25 flying reindeer 0.6% 20 telesurgery 0.5% 19 spider goat 0.5% 19 ...

"Animal intelligence" leads the search-term pack

A new leader in search terms bringing people to my main website this week: "animal intelligence" takes the top spot.Physics of football still ranks high, though, and if you throw in "soccer science" and "science of soccer," it takes first place. On the other hand, there's also "animal emotions" on the list, so it's pretty close anyway you look at it.And, yes, our old friend "spider goat" is still right up there. This week's top search terms: 36 animal intelligence 0.9% 30 physics of football 0.8% 24 time perception 0.6% ...

This blog is number one!

The number-one hit on Google if you do a search for the term "hassenpfeffer," that is.Had I realized this sooner, I could have used it as one more reason for my idiosyncratic spelling of the word. (For which I was recently taken to task.)If you search for the "correct" spelling, "hasenpfeffer," all you get is a bunch of boring recipes for cooking rabbit. But with my spelling...I'm number one! It's not very often I get to say that.

Spider goats regain lead!

It's been a week, and "spider goats" has regained the lead as the top search term bringing people to edwardwillett.com.But that's misleading. There are four search terms in this batch (all terms in the double digits in the last 4,000 visits) that are essentially the same: "physics of football," "football physics," "aerodynamics of a football" and "the physics of football." (Considering the international nature of the 'Net, perhaps "science of soccer" belongs in there, too.) Clearly, more peoople are interested in sports than in goats genetically modified to produce spider silk in their milk.Go figure. One seasonal search makes an appearance: "remembrance day poems."Here are the top search terms this week: ...
