In Calgary for Westercon

There’s been no posting for the past couple of days because we’ve been travelling, first to Drumheller to see the Royal Tyrrell Museum (that’s me and Alice out front, about to get eaten) then to Calgary for Westercon, which starts tonight. I’ll be pretty busy but hope to post a blog comment now and then as the weekend goes along.
Among other things, I’ll be singing The Road Goes Ever On, the song cycle featuring J.R.R. Tolkien’s poems set to music by Donald Swann (of the great music-hall comedy duo Flanders and Swann) on Friday night. I’ve also been asked to sing the cameo part of the Mustard Man in Once More With Feeling (the Buffy musical) and the Wagner Elf in Once More With Hobbits (a Tolkienish take on the same songs). Then I’ve got a reading, an autograph session, and numerous panels–lots to keep me out of trouble!
