I just emailed the finished manuscript of Terra Insegura, sequel to Marseguro, to Sheila Gilbert at DAW Books.
Now I wait for her reaction and notes, after which I get to rewrite the whole thing one more time!
And here, for those who have been following along at home, are the final stats for the manuscript:
532 pages
110,078 words
519,783 characters (no spaces)
625,932 characters (with spaces)
3,604 paragraphs
12,351 lines.

That’s just what it came out in the manuscript format I use, which is (or used to be) standard: 12-pt Courier, one-inch margins. That’s typically between 200 and 250 words to a page.
The book will have fewer pages when it’s printed. Marseguro, which as published is a few thousand words longer than this one (though that could change with editorial revisions: Marseguro grew by 20,000 words or so during the final rewrite) has 392 pages in book form.
Congrats! How do you determine how many pages? Is there a standard DAW page size you use, or is it kind of arbitrary?
