The first paragraph I wrote today was…
The first helium-neon laser was constructed in 1960 by Ali Javan, a physicist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In a helium-neon laser, electrodes transfer electrical energy to the helium-neon gas mixture. The current energizes the helium atoms, which then transfer their energy to the neon atoms, causing them to emit light. Although the most common colour of light emitted by a helium-neon laser is red, there are also helium-neon lasers that emit green light and even some that emit invisible infrared light.
After a chat and exchange of email with my agent today, I’ll be moving ahead with synopses for two possible new adult SF novels and focusing my fictioneering energies there for the time being, so it might be all non-fiction paragraphs here for a while.
I haven’t given up on the YA fantasy I’ve been posting bits from, but it’s going to be on the back burner for a while.
