Writing Diary: July 13, 2004

I got in a good 75 minutes or so on Excalibur Reforged today. Sample section:

Icy salt water. Gray sky. Tossing waves stretching to the indistinct horizon, lost in haze or distant rain or snow. A shore as barren as images from the surface of Mars. A hand gripping hers, pulling her down…

I also made some progress on Chapter 2 of the Orson Scott Card biography, but was just getting rolling good when the air conditioning technician showed up to check our unit. Grrr. Tomorrow I’ll finish Chapter 2, though, come hell or high water or even UPS or FedEx, and I want to have Chapter 3 done by Friday.

I need to get the thing done, not only because it’s overdue, but because the contract will be forthcoming soon for the genetics book I’m writing, and that sucker is going to take some serious research…

I’m finishing up the evening by writing a review of Prairie Salt, a new musical created by Jeffrey Pufahl, a theatrical friend of mine. He’s in Winnipeg for the Fringe Festival and I promised to provide him with a copy by tomorrow for their poster boards. I just took a break to do this before I forget.
