What’s 50 percent of 50 percent?

According to a new study, there’s a less than 50 percent chance that the results of any randomly chosen scientific paper are true.

But that means there is a less than 50 percent chance that the new study that says there’s a less than 50 percent chance that the results of any randomly chosen scentific paper are true is true, which means that actually there could be a much better (or possibly much worse) chance that the results of any randomly chosen scientific paper are true, which means, if the former, that it’s more than likely correct that less than half are true, but, if the latter, it’s more than likely incorrect that less than half are true, and in fact many more than half are true, but then…but then…

Um…what was I just saying?
