Why there are many things I don’t write about

Anne Althouse, in the process of explaining how you can tell she is not a libertarian, makes this comment:

There are many problems that, for me, provoke only this thought: If it were my job to solve this problem, I would work on it, and, in this process working on it, anything I have to say about it now would be something I wouldn’t waste my time on

Which sums up very nicely my own reasons for keeping my thoughts about many, many topics to myself.

As that old saying has it, “Better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and be proven one.”

This approach is not, alas, universally accepted in the blogosphere. (Or any other sphere, come to think of it.)
