Back and looking forward

As you may have noticed, blogging has taken a back seat to other activities recently while I was acting in Beauty and the Beast up in Saskatoon, but I’m settling back into a regular home routine again and ready to start off a new year of Hassenpfeffering.

And it’s looking to be quite the year. First off, Marseguro will come out on February 5 from DAW Books. My deadline for turning in the sequel, Terra Insegura, is just ten days later.

My children’s biography of Janis Joplin should be out from Enslow before long, and I’m also finishing up my book on the Mutiny on the Bounty for Enslow, and have contracts to write books on Andy Warhol and Johnny Cash for them. It looks like I’ll be working on a book about surveyors in Saskatchewan. I’ve got several proposals I want to pull together: I’d like (and my agent would like me) to get to the point of writing two novels a year, not just one. And of course the science column and CBC Web column will be continuing.

I’m currently planning to be at KeyCon in Winnipeg over the May long weekend; at the Denver World Science Fiction Convention in August, and at the World Fantasy Convention in Calgary in October.

And that’s just the stuff I know about: every year brings unexpected opportunities to write, sing or act.

As a result, I always look forward to the new year, and 2008 is not exception. I hope you have a great one, too!
