However, I had an e-mail from my agent today which has me thinking I may put this book on hold for a while. The YA fantasy field is jam-packed right now, so I may soon be focusing on something else (not a hardship–I always have multiple projects in the works). Just so you don’t get whiplash if all my fiction paragraphs suddenly involve entirely new characters and settings…
The first non-fiction paragraph I wrote today was:
Ah, warm weather at last. In the minds of some, nothing says “warm weather” like “cold beer.” And nothing says “cold beer” like “glowing neon.” Reason enough, this week, to talk about how “neon” signs came to be, and how they come to glow.
This, of course, is the beginning of this week’s science column, which you will see in its entirety here tomorrow.
(Why, yes, I am also writing a children’s book on neon. In the freelancing biz, we call this “repurposing.”)
