Fireboy is a Manitoba Young Readers’ Choice nominee
My young-YA/middle-grade fantasy Fireboy, a nominee for Best Young Adult Novel in this year’s Aurora Awards, is also a finalist for the 2027 Manitoba Young Readers’ Choice Award in the Northern Lights Division.
This is the second time I’ve had a book nominated for a MYRCA, but it’s been a while–the last one was Andy Nebula: Interstellar Rock Star.
All young people in Grades 4–9 who are residents of Manitoba are eligible to vote. Students must read a minimum of three books from the MYRCA Sundogs list to be able to vote for the Sundogs category (for younger readers) or a minimum of 3 books from the MYRCA Northern Lights list (for older readers) to be able to vote in the Northern Lights category. The grade levels stated are interest levels, and students wishing to read both lists or a list outside their grade level are welcome to do so.
Voting runs from April 6 to 16, 2027.
It’s an honour to be nominated!
