…and I still don’t really understand it. But apparently, light, which has previously been brought essentially to a stop in experiments, has now been given negative speed, so that the peak of a pulse of light emerges from an optical fiber in the reverse direction before the peak of the pulse has even entered the fiber.

No, really, that’s what it says.

Yes, that means the light moves faster than the speed of light, but no, that doesn’t violate Einstein, because no information is transmitted.
