The Walrus likes Lost in Translation

I’ve been released from heck: The Walrus likes Lost in Translation!.

My favorite quote from her post:

You’ve really got to hand it to an author who can make you rather like a creature with tentacles around his beaked face who engages in Realpolitik.

I think that should go on the paperback cover.

Speaking of which, I couldn’t agree more about the cover art for the hardcover: The Walrus calls it “dreadful,” I usually just say, “well, that’s not quite how I saw it…” which is being-nice author-speak for “Blecch.” The paperback cover, however, is terrific. That is pretty much how I saw it.

No say whatsoever, as a rule. The only exception for me was Spirit Singer, which, because it was an ebook/POD original, I actually commissioned my own cover art from Ronald Chironna. In that case I was so happy with the result I bought the original artwork!

I take it the author doesn’t get much say in what goes on the cover. Unless you’re OSC or Tom Clancy or somebody like that.
