Acronym of the day
Nanoscale polymer beads, first developed as sensors to explore and monitor cellular processes, now hold promise for diagnosing and treating cancer. Excellent news, bravo, etc.
But that’s not the main reason I’m blogging about it. I was just taken with the acronym they come up with for these little beads: PEBBLEs. Catchy, eh? It stands for Photonic Explorers for Biomedical use with Biologically Localized Embedding.
How many man-hours of research time do you think went into coming up with that?
Or perhaps Acronym Generation is now a university course–wouldn’t surprise me. It seems to be a growth industry…
