What’s the difference?

I’m not the first person to point this out, but last week there were a lot of news stories about this poll, which shows that only 15 percent of Canadians would vote for George Bush; this is taken as proof that Canadians hate the man and his policies. Then, today, I read this articl in the Globe and Mail about the NDP:

“Party organizers say the election war chest is growing, thanks to new election financing laws and the popularity of NDP Leader Jack Layton.

“Buoyed by recent polls, including one showing support from 16 per cent of Canadians, the NDP is poised to shell out big bucks on advertising and a splashy cross-country campaign.”

Jack Layton, in other words, is precisely as popular in Canada as George Bush…and the NDP sees this as a good thing.

Shows you just how badly off the NDP has been recently, doesn’t it?
