Waiting for ConVersion

Which is not the same as waiting to be converted, thanks. ConVersion is the annual SF convention in Calgary, which is where I am now after a long drive yesterday (made less stressful than it might have been by the fact that my three-year-old daughter Alice was a wonderful traveller and didn’t whine at all, focused though she was on getting to the hotel where she could go into the swimming pool).

Guest of Honor at the con, which starts this evening, is George R. R. Martin; I’ve seen him but never met him, so I hope I’ll get a chance to do so this time. Spider Robinson is the Canadian GoH; ditto, although I have exchanged an e-mail or two with Spider, who is a member of SF Canada. Artist guest of honor is James Beveridge, and I know several of the other writers who will be here, including Dave Duncan, Marie Jakober and Robert J. Saywer.

Highlight of the event just might be tonight’s concert by the Arrogant Worms, though!

I hope to blog a bit throughout the weekend…gotta justify this rather expensive high-speed Internet connection in the Calgary Westin somehow!
