Writing & Reading Diary: September 21, 2004

Well, I’ve been a bit lax in posting my writing and reading diaries. (Sound of one hand slapping the back of the other.) There. That’ll teach me.

In any event, yesterday and today (and last week) I worked on Excalibur Reforged. I’m now doing line by line rewriting and rethinking, a slow but enjoyable process; I’m about 30 pages into the 300-page manuscript. This is where I incorporate the comments of my critiquers.

Yesterday I also did quite a bit of Web site work and some market research, and found a couple of possibilities for current or future manuscripts; I hope to get something off to at least one of them before long. Today, of course, was science column day, as you can see from below.

On the reading side, I’m back with Asimov‘s, working on the current (double) issue. I’ve also got the new Discover. I’m between books.

Mostly, I’ve been reading blogs, as Danron Rathergate plays out.

    Hey Ed,

You’re very lucky to have a group of critiquers who actually care enough to give you a real critique. These kinds of people are rare and should be wrapped in cotton batting (a French Canadian expression).
