Back in the saddle–er, office chair

I got back from Saskatoon yesterday about this time, but I had to hit the ground running and haven’t had time to blog–I had to prepare for last night’s Net.talk (the phone-in computer show I host on Access Communication’s community TV channel), then go to rehearsal for Regina Lyric Light Opera’s upcoming musical brunch, featuring the music of Kander and Ebb, then stay up late (and work again all morning) preparing a PowerPoint slide show for the committee overseeing the book on Saskatchewan engineering history I’m writing, then actually give the presentation, then run some errands, then…

Well, then I was finally here, and here I sit, blogging, briefly.

The reading in Saskatoon went very well. There actually was a geneticist (he teaches at the University of Saskatchewan) in the crowd (I use the term loosely, but there were several people there, although since the reading was in McNally Robinson’s coffee shop, it’s hard to be sure who’s there to have coffee and who’s there to see the author), and he didn’t jump up and denounce me as a fraud, so that was good. I even sold a copy of the book and signed it. Best of all, of course, is that the bookstore ordered several copies for the reading, and since it’s on sales to bookstores that I make my royalties, not sales to individuals–whoo-hoo!

Next week I’m looking forward to knuckling down on the engineering history–it’s time to rewrite it.
