I am very (very, very!) pleased to announce that I have acquired a New York literary agent to market my fiction (both YA and adult): the estimable Ethan Ellenberg.
It’s been an exciting couple of days. With DAW’s paperback release of Lost in Translation coming up, and a contract in hand but not yet signed, I figured I should strike while the iron was hot and see if I could I could use the DAW offer to attract an agent–not just any agent, but a top-notch one. I contacted two, of whom Ellenberg was one. I talked to him Wednesday morning; he expressed interest but wanted to see the book and hear about my other projects. I sent him a Word file of Lost in Translation, and he got back to me saying he liked what he’d read of it. Next he asked me to send him 100 pages of my most recent project, Excalibur Reforged: The Singing Water, which I hope will be the first book of a five-book series. I did, and waited.
Yesterday around noon he called and said he liked it and would be happy to work with me. He now has The Singing Water in hand along with my middle-reader/younger YA ghost story The Haunted Horn, and, of course, he’ll be looking after the DAW contract for me.
Ethan Ellenberg is one of the top agents in the field–just check out the astonishing number of books coming out from his clients every year. I couldn’t be happier to be represented by him and I hope this will be the start of a wonderful relationship–and a whole new chapter of my writing career.
Woo-hoo!
