Reminder: Three shows left of Candide

We’ve had two performances of Regina Lyric Light Opera‘s production of Candide, in which I play Voltaire/Pangloss/The Governor/The Host/The Sage. Both were great successes–the audiences loved them, laughing and applauding throughout. Her Honour Lynda Haverstock, Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan, was present for opening night and highly complimentary backstage after the show.

There are still three shows left of this hilarious Broadway musical full of “sex, laughs and adventure.” If you’re in the Regina area, please come see it. As I noted in my first post on it a few days ago, it’s very funny, it has glorious music by Leonard Bernstein, and I’m in it! In fact, I have what is perhaps the central role! What more incentive do you need?

The remaining shows are tonight (Friday, May 26), Saturday and Sunday. Show times are 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow and 2 p.m. Sunday. The venue is the University Theatre, Riddell Centre, University of Regina. There’ll be a pre-show talk half an hour before each performance in the lobby, given by Lyric’s vice-president–my wife, Margaret Anne Hodges.

Tickets are $20 (reserved seating) and available online here, at Bach & Beyond in the Golden Mile Centre here in Regina, or at the door.

As I said earlier, come out and see me sing a love song to a man in drag, wear a really ugly wig, play with a toy boat, and make out with a serving maid.

What more could you ask for in a show?
