Here’s the view from the 13th floor suite SF Canada had its party in tonight at VCon.
Another good day. As you’ll see below, I managed almost 2,500 words of fiction today, not bad considering I also participated in a (very intimate) panel discussion of playwriting (panelists agree: it’s not the same as novel writing, you have to carry everything through dialogue, and getting a play professionally produced is even less likely than selling a novel), read (my humorous short story “A Little Space Music,” written and critiqued at Banff last year and still, alas, unsold), attended the interview of Fan Guest of Honor Randy McCharles (whom I know from Calgary) by Robert J. Sawyer, had a pretty good lunch and a reasonably good supper with new acquaintances and old friends, moderated another panel on Print on Demand publishing (bottom line: in the future, publishing will have several new ways to bring material to readers, the reading marketplace will be even more fragmented, but people will still want publishers of some form, however they produce their final product, to vet the vast flood of gunk that arises from the keyboards of all the people who think they can write), and attended the SF Canada party.
Tomorrow, I have just an autograph session, which probably no one will care about, and a final panel that may or may not happen, because it’s very late, it’s a bit redundant, and I may just go off for dinner instead.
More then!
