My Aurora-eligible work for 2025: read my eligible short story online!

The Aurora Awards are Canada’s best-known science fiction and fantasy awards, voted on by fans every year. I’ve been fortunate enough to win twice, for Marseguro (DAW Books) (soon coming out in a new edition from Tuscany Bay Books) and The Worldshapers podcast, and have been shortlisted several other times.

If you’d like to nominate and/or vote for the Aurora Awards, you need to be a Canadian citizen or resident, and you need to be a member of the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association. To join, go to their website. As it notes: “Membership in the CSFFA has its privileges: You can propose eligible works, nominate and vote on the awards. You can also help shape the Awards by voting on proposals for change. All of that for a modest $10 per year.”

Should you join and be interested in nominating, you’ll find lists of eligible works. May I modestly suggest my own?

In the Best YA Novel category, please consider my novel Fireboy.

In the Best Short Story eligibility list, you’ll find my story “Quid est Veritas,” from Shapers of Worlds Volume V. (Several other short stories from the anthology by other authors are also eligible; please consider them!) You can now read “Quid est Veritas” online. (It and several other stories from the anthology were selected for Tangent Online’s 2025 Recommended Reading List. Mine and Hayden Trenholm’s “Grey Scale” both received two stars (on a scale of 0-3). Note that Hayden is one of the anchor authors for On Spec 2026: New Canadian Literature of the Fantastic.

The anthology itself is eligible under the Best Related Work.

The Worldshapers podcast is once again eligible under Best Fan Related Work. I’d also urge you to consider, under Best Cover Art/Interior Illustration, the interior illustrations for Shapers of Worlds Volume V by Wendi Nordell.

Oh, and under Best Novel, consider Gods of a New World by Ryan Melsom, published by my Shadowpaw Press.

Thank you for your consideration!
