For just $17.95, my parents got…me!

I’m posting this just before midnight on July 20, which, since I was born at 10:32 p.m. on that date in 1959, I guess means I can no longer deny that I have turned 49 years old.

I found this old hospital bill my mother saved: apparently in those days it cost $67.95 to bring a child into the world, and since my parents’ insurance paid $50, they had to shell out $17.95 for the pleasure of my company.

I hope I’ve been worth it!

Anyway, I had a great birthday with my family. On to the big five-oh in a year’s time!

P.S. Just for fun, I Googled Hillcrest General Hospital in Silver City. Apparently it was torn down sometime in the past few years. But I found this picture of it–and judging by the cars, it was probably taken pretty close to when I was born there!
