The first sentence I wrote today…

…is not the sentence I’m going to post here, because I didn’t keep it.

In fact, the sentence I wrote yesterday is already gone. See, I’d started this scene where my protagonist, Richard, looks around the briefing table and starts describing all his senior officers and…yawn…remembering all the…ho-hum…plot points from the previous…zzzzzz.

Yeah, it even bored me.

So today I started that section afresh and relegated the 1,500 words or so I wrote yesterday to a separate file of background that I might or might not use. As a result, although I think I probably wrote around 3,500 words or so in total today, I didn’t advance quite as far as that might sound.

I did, however, finish Chapter 1. Yay!

So here’s the first sentence I wrote today that I think has a chance of actually staying in the book (okay, technically it’s two sentences):

“Impressive, isn’t it?”

Richard Hansen managed not to jump–barely–as the voice sounded in his left ear.

Words today (that remain in the manuscript): 1,096
Total thus far: 3,600
Percentage completed: 3.0
