Under 2,000 today. More tomorrow!
(By the way, the “percentage complete” up there is based on 120,000 words. The contract only specifies 100,000, so technically I’m 47.4 percent complete. But Marseguro also started at 100,000 and ended up at 120,000 after rewrites, and anyway it’s more interesting to calculate the percentage based on something other than 100,000 words. If, however, I get closer to the end and discover 100,000 is going to be just about right…well, I won’t struggle to add another 20,000 just so my percentages come out right!)
I’m expecting copies of Marseguro to arrive any day now, at which point I’ll be announcing some sort of contest to give away signed copies. Oh, and I’m also working on a video “trailer”for the book: watch for that in the near future, too.

Release date is almost here…
Well, I’ll just have to make sure that the P.A. Coles will carry the book then! Plus, I already got my school’s library to get a copy of Lost In Translation, so it shouldn’t be too hard to convince them to pick up Marseguro too…
Same deal. It’s the online bookstore that places the order with the publisher, so it’s the number of books ordered by the bookstore, not individual sales, that determine my royalty.
Oh good, a contest! Otherwise, I’ll have to buy a bookstore copy and wait till you get to Ottawa to sign them!
No royalty on individual copies sold??? !!! What about online?
Buying at a bookstore is best for me: I don’t get a royalty on each copy sold individually, but on bookstore orders. So the best way to help out any author is to buy out a bookstore’s entire stock and then ask them to order more!
Oooo – contest! Cool! On the chance that I don’t win, do you get more money if we buy the book in some particular way, or is it about the same any way it’s purchased (online, in store, etc)?
